Gaylord Water Tower Repainting Project Update

Gaylord Water Tower Repainting Project Update

Due to unforeseen weather related issues (wind and moisture), the Gaylord Water Tower painting project is running about four (4) weeks behind schedule. However, the loud sand blasting has been completed and a green primer coat has been applied. The second and final coat of white paint is currently being applied to the water tower as weather permits. This project has been a real challenge because of the close proximity of homes near the water tower and the winds off of Lake Michigan.

It is important to mention the contractor's debris and paint containment curtain (standard in this type of work) cannot handle winds of more than 15 mph; otherwise they risk the likelihood of damaging the whole curtain apparatus, which of course, would delay the project even longer. The contractor is very conscientious about this and wants to complete the job safely and as soon as possible just like everyone else, but unfortunately he is at the mercy of the weather and the allowable working hours (City noise ordinance).

We again appreciate everyone's patience throughout this project and I know it has been very trying for many of you, but the end result will be an updated water tower that we all can be proud of for many years to come.  Thank you.
