COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES
The Community Development Department is responsible for research, application and administration of grant programs and projects. Grant funding is used for projects such as improving public parks and infrastructure, purchasing equipment for city departments, administering housing repair programs for low income families and addressing contaminated brownfield sites.
The Community Development Department also directs the Downtown Ludington Board(DDA) in Downtown redevelopment efforts as well as special events, promotions, economic enhancement programs, and beautification projects.
Other responsibilities of the Community Development Department include maintenance and redevelopment of the City's Web site and the City Welcome Sign, Preservation efforts through acquisition of historic properties as well as administration of the City's Preserve America Committee.
The City of Ludington Community Development Department also administers the Mason County Housing Program, by providing funding to Low Income Homeowners for Home Repairs.
