Responsibilities:

The City's Treasurer's Office performs tax collections and handles all City short-term investments.  Office of the City Treasurer collects all City, County, and School taxes and personal property taxes.

Citizens can call or come into the Office where a knowledgeable staff will assist them with questions or problems they may have.  Ludington property owners receive tax bills from the Treasurer' Office.  Our busiest months are September, October, December and February of each year when the homeowners receive a tax bill for the Schools and City property tax (summer) and the County property Tax (winter).  At this time, businesses also receive personal property tax bills from the City.

The Customer Service staff handles numerous inquiries about tax bills, water and sewer bills, and special assessments.  In addition other inquiries may relate to balances owed for various property liens, corrections in mailing information and bill information.  Also all final water bills are handled through the Treasurer's Office.

The City Treasurer's Office continually strives to ensure the timely billing and collection of taxes and fees, receipt of all payments to the City funds are then invested in a prudent manner governed by State Law and City Investment Policy.  Our goal is to maximize the financial resources and to meet the needs of the City and its citizenry by performing these tasks in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Water and sewer bills
Local property taxes
Special assessments
Accounts receivable invoices
Building permit fees
Cemetery lot and grave opening payments
